Everyday Heroes

One of our members is what we call an everyday hero. He’s the kind of guy who will always put time and effort into helping someone else, and it will never even occur to him to ask for credit for doing so.

He’s one of the guys who can work with anyone, from the newest beginner to the most experienced black belt. And he will always do so with a real generosity of spirt. He’ll take fall after fall after fall for a newbie learning a throw, and when it’s his turn he’ll make sure that the newbie takes a gentle fall.

One day he just started helping us with kids class. He saw a place where he could be useful, and so he stepped in and unobtrusively, generously made himself useful. And he has become a real asset. He’s got the patience of a saint, and is simply committed to helping the kids become really great Judoka.

Every time we have a club clean up, or throw a party or completely renovate the dojo — Rob shows up with a smile to roll up his sleeves and put in some time helping us.

Every club, every organization needs someone like Rob. Every organization needs someone who always steps up, and always contributes.

Honestly, he’s a hero. He may not look like a hero. He doesn’t have a cape on his gi, and he doesn’t wear tights (at least not outside of No Gi), but he’s a hero. He’s an everyday hero.
